TUCSON 2011 ~ A SUCCESSFUL TRIP

The weather was a bit chilly, but the Hotel and view here in the Catalina Mountains were fabulous. Our buying trip was more than successful. Here is Dave with just a few of the boxes that we had packed. We loaded the car and headed to put this stuff on one of our skids.

Our flight out of Syracuse to head West got cancelled. We arrived a lot later than normal. This had its advantages and disadvantages. One of the advantages was that we got to go to the Gem and Mineral Show at the Convention Center in Tucson. Got to see lots of classy stuff and some huge gems. Here is a picture of a huge Rhodocroscite Crystal. It was gemmy and beautiful.

Every year we get a little more crazy. This year we brought home over 3000 pounds of new material. Our shipment arrived within 5 days. That was super fast. We have most of it out and we are sorting and pricing. Got some new Kwan Yin statues. Haven't unpacked those, yet. We found more Satyaloka Himalayan Quartz crystals. Check this one out.

We found some healing wands that you will want to check out and also some pendulums that are quite unique. We are eager to get these into your hands so that you can check out their uses first hand.
Dave and I will have many surprises and fun new things for you to see. We hope to see all of you soon. The Gallery remains closed for now as we are battling the snow and ice here. We also have to get organized. It all takes time.

SEASONS GREETINGS !

Happy Holidays One and All !

It has been a fun and exciting year for us as you can see from some of the older posts.

The kitten that adopted us earlier this year has gotten quite big. You wouldn't know that it was the same bitty creature. He has taken over the house and is overly playful. No Christmas tree this year. He likes to leap into the tall pines that we have surrounding our house. I can only imagine what he would do to a tree inside the house. Surely, he would know it was "His".

We are thankful to be home and off the road for a few months. Our open house weekends are in full swing with this weekend being the Weekend Before Christmas Open House.

The Rose Quartz angels and Merkaba Stars are just a little sampling of some of the pretty things you can see. We also will be serving homemade cookies, gourmet coffee and teas and some wonderful hot mulled cider. The cinnamon stick used in the cider came all the way from St. Lucia and I have added a few other warm spices. Yumm! Two Hawks Gallery is filled with lots of unique gifts for everyone on your list. Come in and browse and enjoy some fellowship and holiday treats.

It is never a dull moment here. Dave just finished a BIG project that has freed up our living space. Yay ! It was a month and a half project of constructing shelving and insulating our warehouse. It is a start. I have to say I am appreciating having some house space back.

We want you to know that the best part of this Season is remembering all of you that have shared your hearts and friendship with us throughout the year. You have helped to make lasting memories for us. Dave and I wish for you a Holiday filled with cheer, community with family and friends, and the simple magic that is the nature of Christmas.

THE MARRIAGE OF SHANNON WILSON AND LUKE SEAWARD

The date was July 16, 2010. It started out as a dank and dismal day. Raining and pouring all day long. We were in the Adirondack’s at 4th Lake. The Northwood’s Inn in Inlet, NY to be exact. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous about the weather even though I had asked for it to be Sunny and 78 degrees with a slight breeze, days in advance.
This picture shows you the spot where the bridal procession was to begin. Just so you can see that R A I N.
The wedding was planned for 5 p.m. , outside, and underneath a pergola overlooking 4th Lake.
Shannon’s Aunt Karen and her cousins worked diligently at putting the floral arrangements together that were to adorn the pergola. Luke, Dave, Brent and I helped them put decorations up in the pouring rain. I kept looking at the water that was filling up the aisle where they would need to walk in a few hours. Yikes ! Would it ever subside ?
About an hour before the wedding, the sun came out and dried away all of the puddles. It was gorgeous, sunny with a breeze, and about 78 degrees. (have faith Lee)
From here I have to tell you that this is the best wedding that I have ever attended. There was one surprise after another. Shannon's parents were tops in providing a spectacular day for our children. Shannon and Luke made the day fun and exciting with all of the things that they provided and incorporated into the day.
And here is how it went. Pictorially and in words.
The very first surprise was the bagpiper. A wonderful Celtic tradition. Here are Shannon and her dad. The flower girls were adorable. This is cute. The night before at the rehearsal, this little one marched up between Luke and MikeThe wedding
Luke’s friend, Chris Merkley, played guitar,sang and played harmonica during the cocktail hour. Mostly, Blues. He is extremely talented.

Todd our oldest son, was his brother’s best man. Here he is toasting, or I should say roasting the newly weds. The theme of Todd’s roast was that Luke always does it B I G . No matter what he has chosen in life thus far it has been in a big way.

Including winning the heart of this lovely girl.
These were the cutest and tastiest favors that I have ever seen. Strawberries covered in chocolate that were made hours before the wedding by Shannon’s cousin, Brittany Bean. Luke and Shannon had their bridal dance choreographed. For several weeks they went for dance lessons with Bess Koval, a ball room dance coach from Cortland. She even drove to Inlet prior to the wedding to give the kids one last lesson. The dance was much different than I had imagined. You would have had to seen it to be in as awe as we all were. There were many teary eyes as we watched the 2 perform this most touching and moving dance. I wish I had a video for you to see. No picture can show this one.

Now the next surprise was fun and could be done by all. Luke and Shannon hired a person to come in with a photo booth to take pictures of the guests. The guests could dress up in weird stuff and pose and then the pictures were given to the bride and groom and the guests also had a set of the pictures to keep.

Many guests came from far and wide to celebrate the Union.

It was so much fun. Then as an added treat, Luke hired a professional fireworks company to come in and display fireworks.
How cool is that ?
However, as you know, it ain’t over til the fat lady sings. Thankfully, they didn’t catch me singing at karaoke . They did however, catch a picture of Elwood Blues (aka Todd Seaward ) and some of the Blues Brothers singers.

YEOW ! WHAT'S NEW AT TWO HAWKS ?

Can you believe that someone abandoned this little guy in the ditch across the road from us ?

Last week Dave and I were watering the plants when we heard some very loud crying. We both looked at each other and said, " Is that what I think it is ? " I went down to check it out and this little fellow made his way up through the trees and overgrown weeds whining all the way. Yup, it was what we thought it was. Poor little guy.

He is soooo friendly. What a cutey. He loves the rocks and crystals and plays in the gardens. He is pretty tiny. Maybe about 6 weeks old and we doubt he weighs much more than a pound.

The Medicine Wheel has evolved. I dare not say that it is complete. Dave could change it. The circle and direction paths are complete.

You will have to come out and check it out and see all of the things that have been added. Come and walk the wheel.
Our gardens are starting to look nice. You can come and sit with the large smokey quartz crystal and enjoy the hummingbirds, plants and country air.

We hope to see you all very soon. June is a good time to stop out. We will be getting busier with shows and Luke and Shannon's wedding in July.

CHILLIN IN ST. LUCIA

Dave and I finally got a chance to have a time out and relax. This is the first time in many, many years that we have actually taken a trip that didn't revolve around BUSINESS.

Yes, we had 1o days on the Island of St. Lucia in the South Eastern Caribbean. The resort was located between the Atlantic Ocean and The Caribbean Sea. So, you had water views from both sides. We were lucky to be on the Caribbean side. We had a spectacular view from the balcony of our room that changed constantly. These are just a few shots that we took from there. Several mornings we ate breakfast on our balcony.

While we were there we took a water trip by catamaran to see some of the sites on the island. On this day we were headed to Soufriere to see the volcano, mineral baths and botanical garden.

We went to Diamond Botanical Gardens and saw the water fall located there. This is the waterfall that was filmed in the movie, "Romancing the Stone".

The gardens were beautiful. We were disappointed that we did not see parrots or many undomesticated animals on our trip. One dead snake that we were told was very poisonous.On this trip we also saw the Pitons, these two mountains in the background, that are landmarks of St. Lucia. One of the highlights of our trip was zip lining through the Rain Forest. The zip lining itself wasn't too bad once you got the hang of it. (no pun intended for those of you who have done this and know what I mean) Getting to each zip line was another story. It is very warm and humid in the rain forest and there was a lot of climbing and hiking to each line. Some of the lines were 1500 feet in length, but they never told us how high up we were. Here I am zipping along.

There were two rope bridges that we had to cross. It was scary and a bit strenuous. It was a good thing that there were a few people ahead of us, as there were times that I had to catch my breath after the climbs and hikes. The harnesses that you wear are not too flattering or I would show you the shot Dave took of me on the rope bridge. One of the kids that put the harnesses and safety stuff on us asked me if this (zip lining) was on my "Bucket List".

We took a couple trips into Castries to visit the central market. This was like our farmer's market and flea markets. Dave was looking for locally made herbal remedies. At the market we found all kinds of yummy spices. The women selling the spices, as well as some of the women that were buying from the vendors were very helpful and gave us information on how the many spices could be used medicinally. Here are some ladies that were trying to tell Dave how to use the local spices for making Spiced Rum.They were so sweet. They kept telling him over and over, until he finally got it. They also told him that the spices would be VERY GOOD for him. The lady in orange was the vendor and the other two ladies were shoppers.

The market was a fun place. We really liked the part of it that was like the farmer's market. Dave saw a young fellow with a liter water bottle that he was having filled with coconut water. There was also an older gentleman that got some coconut water and drank it straight from the coconut. Thinking this was pretty cool, Dave bought a coconut for a dollar fifty Eastern Caribbean (about sixty cents US) and the lady selling them cut one open for him with here machete.

She spoke only Creole, so another lady there told her what Dave wanted. Here he is drinking his coconut water. He also had her cut the coconut in two and he ate the jelly inside.

As luck would have it, all of our spices made it home from St. Lucia.

We took a ton of pictures while we were there. Well about 1000. We got a kick out of taking shots of flowers and statues and just cool looking things. This is an archway in the resort that kept changing with the light. It was rainy and then sunny.
The trees and the flowers were amazing. Look at these.

Another thing that Dave enjoyed picturing were the sunsets. Always awesome.

Each day we got going fairly early. We walked on the beach, climbed the mountains, and always made sure we got out early enough to grab a good spot on the beach. The water was great and the sun felt even better. It was in the eighties every day and the trade winds made it perfect. Here is Dave on the beach. Yes, he is looking for stones, coral and shells. No he didn't completely detour away from business.

The beach was kept clean and each morning you would see the guys out picking up and raking the sand. Here is a wheel barrow with a great saying.
We truly had fun and we did relax. Being in the water and on the beach was a high point for me. Dave said the best thing he did was get a massage. He waited til the next to the last day to do it. He was pretty mellow afterword and he said he thought he had died and gone to heaven.

And there we were, Just Chillin in St. Lucia

and as the Island People would say:

No Problem ! No Pressure !

If it has been awhile since you have been to the Gallery, come on out during December for our Holiday Open House Weekends.

There has been a little discussion about the new entry. I call this second picture Entry Plus. Dave seems to be able to capture additional objects in his photos. As seen here on the far left. (the smokey looking stuff. not his brother.)

The shop is filled with all kinds of goodies for the gift giving Season. We are jamming with jewelry and bling. Rocking to the walls with stones. It's crazy here as usual.

Please be sure to get out and see us in December. We will be closed for the months of January and February 2010. Travel, Inventory, and shows beckon us.

GALLERY UPDATE

Dave's medicine wheel is evolving. Over the past weekend there was a special spontaneous ceremony held around the wheel. People who were visiting the Gallery and a few of the women from the Sacred Circle of Women gathered around the Wheel and the Sacred Circle women sang, "Surely" for everyone. This was spiritually uplifting , as well as, very emotional for me. After the song, Dave was asked to play our large Tibetan bowl. He walked the circle stopping behind each person to strike the bowl and send out it's vibration.

At the end of this impromptu ceremony we were told that a red tailed hawk appeared over the circle.

Dave and I are ever so blessed to be surrounded by beautiful, people.

Things are always evolving around here. Dave and his brother, Marc, have been laboring over a new walkway to our home. I took these pictures a few minutes ago. I actually caught them working. Yesterday, I found them standing in front of the stairway " Brainstorming."

Right now it is a bit difficult to appreciate what they are doing. I can visualize what it will look like in my mind's eye and I know it will be very cool and inviting when it is finished. Last week the process mainly producing mud in and around the driveway. I asked them if they were having fun making mud pies.

There is just one more thing that I would like to show you. These are Dave's new thing for sale in the Gallery. They are selenite rods that Dave has made into what he calls Beams of "Light".

He sold several over the weekend and has a few more to take to the shows.

They look much nicer than what the picture shows. The Gallery will be closed until November.

The CORTLAND PSYCHIC FAIR AND HOLISTIC LIVING EXPO

The 6th Annual Cortland Psychic Fair and Holistic Living Expo will be held one week earlier this year on October 9 and 10, 2010. The event takes place at the Cortland Ramada , 2 River Street, Cortland, NY.(Exit 11 off I-81) This year’s event is scheduled on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Expo presents a good mix of psychics, alternative health practitioners and holistic vendors. A few local well known Psychics & Mediums participating in the event this year are Georgia Cuningham, Cindy Griffith, Danielle Litteer, Native Seers Ted Silverhand and Kris Faso, Dennis Cole, Mark Shaughnessey, Sandy Argus, Anne Dougherty, Corbie Mitleid, and several others from NY State. Two Hawks Gallery will display a large assortment of crystals, stones, spiritual items and unique gifts to purchase. Native American Artist, Eli Thomas, will be displaying his landscape imagery artwork and he plans to lecture Sunday morning on, "Landscape Imagery and Oral Tradition". Don Brennan, Reiki Master, will offer Reiki treatments. Also from Central NY, Beth’s Natural Way will offer Kinesiology and organic food items; and Hillwoman Productions will feature artfully blended herbs, oils and incense. Orion Books and Hathaway Elementals will complement the show with a variety of books, jewelry and an array of holistic items.

There will be a series of lectures given throughout the weekend for those in attendance. On Saturday, author, lecturer and facilitator for Upstate NY International Association for Near Death Studies, David Bennett, will be a special guest speaker at the Expo. Dave’s topic is: “Spiritually Transformative Experiences". Dave will define this type experience and he will share the challenges and rewards that these experiences offer, as well as, side effects and how to cope with them.

The Fair and Expo always brings a number of distinctive Psychics to the area that has a scope of expertise in offering services in astrology, mediumship, tarot, channeling, spiritual and intuitive consultation, tea leaf and hand reading, numerology or sit with Sandra Fioramonti and take home a spirit painting.

Admission to the Fair and Expo is $6.00 which includes the daily lectures. For an additional cost, attendees can get a reading from one of the many renowned psychics, have a personal aura photo taken, get a Reiki treatment, chair massage, or purchase a variety of herbal and health food products, books, unique jewelry, art, crystals and other items.

Again this year, the public is asked to bring non-perishable food items to the fair. These donations are given to Cortland County Nutrition Program Food Pantry. The pantry serves a number of older adults and families each week, and relies very much on donations such as these to keep them supplied.

THE TURKEY TROT

Dave and I have been lucky enough to have several new families join us on our property. Here is momma turkey and her little poults walking across the back wooded area of our yard. When we first saw her about 3 weeks ago it appeared that she had 12 babies. I have been trying to get her picture for days and finally had the opportunity this afternoon. I was pruning my rose tree when I heard her cluck, cluck, cluck. There she was when I looked up. Earlier I counted 5 poults. In these pictures I can only see 4. I noticed if you click on the pictures it will make them larger. They are not the best and have movement in them due to trying to get closeups while they were moving.She certainly is in a hurry when she sees us. We saw her twice today. She must have a routine with them as she teaches them to forage. She is usually headed East when we see her. I think she uses an alternate route when she heads the other way, as I have yet to see her going in any other direction but East.

I have read that a turkey's head will change color when it is startled or excited. Guess she was OK with me. I didn't see any color change.
A few days ago when they were all headed up the driveway and behind the barn I ran to get the camera. I went out along the side of the barn to see if I could find her. The grass is pretty thick back there. As I crouched down I noticed some movement. Wow ! It was a deer. What a neat gift to get that close. Every year we have a deer family here. Usually we see the doe and her two fawns. They are like little puppies. Haven't seen them since earlier in the Summer, though.
For a number of years we have had goshawks that return here to nest. There have been Red Tails here over the years, too. (Part of the reason for the Two Hawks name.) The Goshawks nest up back in our pines. You can tell when the young are learning to fly. They do a lot of crying for the first few weeks. Generally, there are 2 young ones. They help to keep the squirrel population down. The red squirrels that live here think that they own the place. They chatter at everything and everybody. There have been times that we have been standing in the driveway talking to people and the little snots have actually thrown green pine cones at us. No joke !
Another nuisance are the Japanese Beetles. They are after my rose tree. That is what I was up to when the hen and her poults strolled by.

And I am still not sure what happened to my blueberries. Something or somebody ate every last one.

A BEAUTIFUL, SUMMER WEEKEND

It was a perfect weekend here at the Gallery. Lots of people came out and many stones found their rightful homes.

We are always amazed to see where the crystals will go. Many go to the homes that we foresee and then there are the surprises that are unexpectedly divine.

Dave and I are truly blessed to be participants in this wonderful journey that affects so many. We are truly grateful to all of you who come here and make the choices that you do that in turn, affect many more lives.

Sunday, it was our honor to be visited by a group of beautiful women from the “Sacred Circle". As one of the ladies put it, “ What a great way to spend a beautiful, Summer, Sunday !” Dave and I agree. We were the recipients of the most gracious song performed by the Sacred Circle women . The shop and the stones were cleansed by their harmonious voices. No need to smudge for a bit. Thanks, ladies !

ELESTIAL QUARTZ

These Elestial Quartz Crystals are powerful, powerful crystals that have come to us at this time to assist us on the physical plane as we progress as beings of Light.
These crystals have natural terminations over the entire body of the crystal. They may also be called Skeletal or Jacare' Crystals. To view a larger picture of any of these crystals, just double click on that picture.

The next two pictures are one Elestial. I wanted you to see both sides. This one is very unusual. One side is the Elestial formation and the other has more of a Barnacle Quartz type appearance.

Here is a huge spiky cluster. The points are very clear and sharp. The points are long slender laser crystals all formed together in one nice cluster.

TIME FLIES WHEN YOU'RE HAVING FUN !

I guess I didn't realize how busy we have been until I looked at the date of my last post.
We have been working around the home gardening, home repairs, a new roof and repairs to the deck. And Dave says he is going to paint the exterior of the house.

In between time, we have been traveling with the business. We have had several out of state shows and will be doing a few more before year end. Check out the amethyst cathedrals we displayed for sale and those crystal balls. Dave has them all priced unbelievably low. If you have been desiring these, now is the time to come out and grab them up.

Prep work and packing for these shows can take at least a week. Set up time for our last show was 8 hours. Tear down was a breeze with the help of the kids. Thankfully.

We enjoy our downtime and appreciate that time when we get it. Dave took this picture early one morning last week. We were out walking with the dogs. We have been dog sitting our sons' dogs, so we have had an extra 1 or 2 to walk. All of our grandchildren are of the 4 legged variety with stumpy little tails.
Dave always seems to capture some interesting things with the camera. Besides the rays of sun beaming through the trees, there is something colorful in the foreground. In the original picture it looks like there is a small greenish cross.

It is lunchtime. I have been told. Time to feed the guys. Dave has been lucky enough to hire his brother to get some of the repair work done. It is good, but as some of you know, Dave is a talker. There are times that he does more jabbering than work.

LISTEN TO CHILDREN

If you read the entire posting, you will see why I have titled this, " Listen to Children".

We recently returned from the Buffalo, NY area after completing back to back shows there. One show was the geological society rock show and the other was a holistic expo. We met with thousands of people over those two weekends and a lot of information was exchanged. There is one story in particular that I feel would be interesting to share with you because it involved a young girl.

When Dave and I were busy at the Earth Spirit Expo a young girl, maybe about 6 or 7 years old, approached Dave. She said that she looked at everything on our tables and this crystal was the one that spoke to her the loudest. She held a rough piece of rose quartz in the palms of her small hands as she presented the stone up for Dave to see. It was very busy in the booth at the time and Dave was hurrying to wait on customers. He did, however, stop and listen. The little girl said that she really liked the stone but she had a problem. Dave inquired to see what kind of problem. She told him that she did not have the money to purchase the stone and then said to him, “ What can I do?” Dave was taken by how sincere she was, and he liked that such a small one would offer to barter. He decided to just give her the stone and he told her, “ I will give you the crystal if you promise to take care of it.” He liked the way that she presented herself and he decided that the whole gesture was more meaningful then the few dollars he could have collected from selling her the rose quartz. She agreed to take care of the stone and thanked him.

By now I am aware of this presence in our booth and the two of us watch her leave and walk into another booth where her mother was set up as a vendor/healer. The experience did not end there. A short time later she returned and presented Dave with a book. She looked up at Dave and said, “ Thank you very much for the stone. Here is a book that I want to give to you.” Dave took the book and thanked her and as she started to walk away, she stopped, turned around and said, “ Take good care of the book!”

Later on Dave and I looked at the book. It is called Illuminated Prayers by Marianne Williamson. The book is composed of a number of short prayers that are filled with inspiration and spiritual wisdom. I would like to share one with you. It is the one that is found on the back of the book’s dust cover. It is:

Dear God,
As I wake up this morning, may Your spirit come upon me.
May my mind receive Your emanations, my soul receive Your blessing,
and my heart receive Your love. May all those I meet or even
think of on this day feel better for it. May I contribute peace.
May I serve Your purposes with all I say and do, today and always.
Please show me how.
Amen

Having shared this experience with you, reminds me about another young person. That person is Andrew and here is that story for those of you who haven't heard it.

Mother Earth Sphere, Andrew’s Story

In 2003 we were introduced to a new find ( for us ), the Mother Earth Spheres. When I was seeking information from the Sphere, I heard that this stone will go to those who need it and that the people that obtain it will know what it is for and what to do with it. Generally, the minerals that we sell come with a description of the mineral and the metaphysical properties that they possess. In this instance, the Mother Earth Sphere was telling me that those who need it will seek it out and will know how to use it.

My husband, Dave, is a Reiki Master Teacher and has been blessed with the gift of working with young children. Some of which have special needs or may be gifted beyond their natural years. Several years ago, Andrew, a marvelous 7 year old boy came to visit Dave. Dave did not have a regimen for Andrew to follow, but instead let Andrew take the lead. Pretty soon Andrew discovered the 83 pound Mother Earth Sphere. He placed it in the center of our healing room and then began placing other minerals in a circle around the Sphere. At least 8 rows of different minerals were arranged around the circumference of the Mother Earth Sphere. Each stone was selected and strategically placed by Andrew. The process took about 2 hours and when he finished he asked Dave to listen. Andrew tapped the Sphere with the zipper of his sweatshirt. He said, “ Did you hear that?” Dave was a bit surprised when Andrew tapped the Sphere and wasn’t prepared to hear anything. He told Andrew, “ No, I’m sorry. I didn’t hear anything.” So Andrew tapped the huge Sphere again. This time Dave heard the faint ring as the Sphere sent out a vibration when Andrew tapped it. “ Ahh, yes,” Dave replied, “ I did hear it!”
Then to this Andrew exclaimed, “ Good. This is for the healing of all mankind. “

How blessed we were to be in the presence of this old soul, a 7 year old named Andrew. With this affirmation, we were firm believers that the Mother Earth Stones would fall into the hands of those that would need and use them. Since that time, many have been placed in areas of the Earth for healing.

I apologize that the picture above is not clearer. It is the actual grid that Andrew created back then.

ANDREW'S SPHERE, THE MOTHER EARTH SPHERES

We quite often call the Mother Earth Spheres, Andrew's spheres.
As many of you already know, our shop was the beginning of a beautiful healing adventure that was co-created by Andrew and the stones when Andrew was just 7 years old. The complete story can be found in the book, Stones Alive ! 2 , by Marilyn and Tohmas Twintress. The account is written in the grey colored areas of pages 114 and 115 of the book. The Mother Earth sphere was used as part of a grid that Andrew created for the healing of all mankind.
These spheres are made from reconstituted quartz and cinnabar. As summarized by the Twintress', "Mother Earth Spheres remind us to look at life with love, letting go of judgement".
The Mother Earth spheres pictured above are part of our new arrival of goods. We are happy to tell you that we will be offering that very large sphere and numerous others to you. The large one is the biggest one that we have seen since Andrew's sphere. This new one is 50 pounds and about 11 inches in diameter. We have one that is 8 " and one that is 7 ", too. We will have about 16 others that are good sized to offer, as well.

The pictures do not do them justice. They are big and bright and beautiful.

Dave and I have been working along at getting everything unpacked and ready. We are getting anxious to show you everything. We hope to do so very soon.

A TON OF STUFF !

Every year Dave and I travel cross country to find new and exciting crystals, stones, rocks, minerals, and all types of unique items from the Far Reaches of the Earth. This year was no different. It is however, getting more difficult to find great prices. This makes the trip more of a chore than a pleasure. Chore or pleasure we still managed to ship over 2000 pounds of material back. That's right......... more than a ton of stuff !
Here is Dave with Fernando,Jr. They are standing next to some of the items we shipped. Fernando's dad and uncle have been great to us throughout the years. They have enabled us to store, ship and buy some beautiful minerals.

Xin Nian Kuai Le. It is the Chinese New Year !

Today begins the Chinese New Year. This is the year of the Ox. Happy New Year to all of our friends or Xin Nian Kuai Le.

Chinese New Year starts with the New Moon on the first day of the new year and ends on the full moon 15 days later. This makes it so that the New Year starts on a different day each year.

Chinese New Year is celebrated with family. Traditionally, it is highlighted with religious ceremony in Honor of Heaven and Earth, the Gods, and for the ancestors of the family. On the15th day of the new year, called the Lantern Festival, a celebration takes place at night with lantern displays and carrying lanterns in a parade.

Here is an interesting house cleaning tradition. It is said that the entire house should be cleaned before New Year's Day. On New Year's Eve, all brooms, dusters, dust pans and other cleaning equipment are put away. Sweeping or dusting should not be done on New Year's Day for fear that good fortune will be swept away. After New Year's Day, the floors may be swept. Beginning at the door, the dust and rubbish are swept to the middle of the room, then placed in the corners and not taken or thrown out until the fifth day. At no time should the rubbish in the corners be trampled upon. To sweep the dust and dirt out of your house by the front entrance is to sweep away the good fortune of the family; it must always be swept inwards and then carried out the back door.

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM SNOWY CENTRAL NY STATE

Yes, it is snow time in Central NY, as you can see by this picture of our front yard. I'm writing this for all of those that miss the lovely four seasons that we North Easterners enjoy.

Have you ever gotten any of those E jokes about people that live in New York State? One in particular went something like this: " You know you are from upstate NY when you switch from AC to heat in the same day." I can't say that I ever have. Here in the Finger Lakes region, we usually have the AC off and in storage long before we crank the heat on. Now if you want to talk about dehumidifiers and humidifiers, that might be a different story. You have a day or two when the snow and ice come off the roof, it is melting and the water that is created finds a way into the basement. So, you crank up the dehumidifier to help collect the moisture. Now upstairs in the living area, you have the wood stove blaring or the furnace is toasting up the place. At the same time every thing in that area becomes dry, dry , dry ! Your skin is parched. Your nose and throat are dry. You feel darn right dehydrated, so you start the humidifier. Now that's "living" in upstate NY.

Then there are those jokes about NY state snow from people that have never seen snow. These are hilarious. Especially, to those that know what "Lake Effect " means or wind chill factor !

Here is another picture. I'm standing on our deck looking down the driveway at the road. See the road down there? Yeah, I thought so. Here in Central NY you get all done shoveling, plowing or blowing the snow off the sidewalks, decks and driveway Etc. then you turn around and see that you need to start all over again.

Cause it is S N O W I N G ....... Funny stuff... huh ?

Okay. Nuff of that business. Here is a picture Dave took the other night. He grabbed the camera and went out because there was a full moon and he thought it was pretty neat outside.

This one is worth sharing. He was in the lower part of our driveway and took this shot looking up toward the house.

I think this may be a shot of Casper the Friendly Ghost's Uncles. Remember the Ghostly Trio ?

There are 3 of them there. Really. Look close.

So, have fun. Keep smiling and remember Ground Hog day is just about 3 weeks away.

QUAN YIN

I do have an affinity for Quan Yin. I like to keep at least one statue in the Gallery all the time, if possible. This one just arrived. She is exquisite. She is made of bisque ( ceramic like pottery).
The lotus flower that she is sitting on reminds me of frosting on a cake. Just the way it has been formed and the pastel coloring. I wish you could see how finely detailed she is. The picture doesn't do her justice. Her hands are very realistic.
She holds a lotus flower in her left hand which symbolizes purity. Quan Yin, as a true Enlightened One, or Bodhisattva, vowed to remain in the earthly realms and not enter the heavenly worlds until all other living things had completed their own enlightenment and become liberated from the pain-filled cycle of birth, death, and rebirth.
There are numerous legends that recount the miracles which Quan Yin performs to help those who call on Her. It is said that Quan Yin observes the sounds of the world. In other words, she hears the cries of those in need.
Quan Yin, the Divine Mother, is: merciful, tender, compassionate, loving, protecting, caring, healing, and wise. She quietly comes to the aid of children everywhere. Her mantra is 'Om Mani Padme Hum.' ( 'Hail the Jewel in the Lotus.')

YES IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR, AGAIN !

Yes it is that time of year again. Time for our annual open house weekends. Dave and I have finally settled in for the Season. There are no more shows until 2009. Please come see us at the Gallery. We have lots of wonderful items for gift giving or for that special place in your home or office.

What a selection of fine semi-precious stone necklaces. There are rings and earrings, too. We have a huge floor display filled with new jewelry and several shelves full as well.

Speaking of shelves full. The shop is jam packed with new things. Check it out.

The shop is glowing with Quartz, Amethyst, and all kinds of pretty stones. Dave has dug out some of the finer material. We also have things arriving daily. Trinket and jewelry boxes made from onyx or agate and more candle holders of Selenite, Amethyst, and Agates in the colors of the rainbow.

Have you seen the Chrysanthemum Stones, yet? These are cool and unique. They are palm sized and look like they have fairies, flowers and dragon flies painted on them. But of course, they are all natural.

Plan to come see us this Holiday Season. Deck your halls with some of our finery. Warm the hearts of friends and family with some of nature's bounty. So much for the wonderous eye to behold. A playground to touch the child in your heart.

WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO ?

We have been keeping busy with shows and projects. As you may know, Dave has been renovating Todd and Leigh’s abode. It is gaining. They have a new furnace and they actually have heat now. Dave’s renovation projects are not always fun. Sometimes you have to live for days in debris and destruction.
When the project is completed, it is usually beautiful. It is the getting there that isn’t !

It is hard to believe that the 4th Annual Cortland Psychic Fair and Holistic Living Expo is almost upon us. Just ten days away, it will be held at the same location, Cortland Ramada, 2 River St. Cortland, NY. If you

The past few weeks I have been busy with the final preparations for the show. We are very excited about all of the advertising that is in place. We have almost 100 television advertising spots on News10 Now and we will have radio spots next week. If you get I-100 or Lite 97.3 be sure to listen on Friday, October 17, 2008 at around 7 to 8 a.m. for Cindy Griffith, Psychic, Intuitive and Spiritual Counselor. Cindy will be on with Mark and Kat. I had hoped to show you the latest stones at Two Hawks. Natrolite and Prehnite.
For whatever reason they were not liking having their picture taken. Since it will be awhile before I can get to it again, I will display a couple shots anyway. Make sure to check out the Natrolite in, “The Book of Stones”. This is one of those stones that is hard to come by. The neat thing about these is that they are from the USA. Also, it is a completely new find just located in the north east. The Prehnite is also from the US and information can be found in almost any one of your stone books. MOLYBDENUM IN QUARTZ & BLACK SHIVA LINGAMS

Whoa ! Dave and I have had a busy few weeks. We have been in PA vending at a Gem and Mineral Show for a several days and we found a few neat new things in between showing.

First off I want you to see this new find. It is Molybdenum included quartz. They are small Lemurian Laser crystals with Molybdenum inside. I do not have many !

This is what they are about : This is a new find from the Huallanca Mine in Peru.
Molybdenum is the silvery white inclusion within this quartz. It has the sixth-highest melting point of any element, and for this reason it is often used in high-strength steel alloys.
Metaphysically: Melody says, that Molybdenum included Quartz has been used to bring light to darkness, merging of the auras of two when used by two together and to promote progression from one understanding to the next. It promotes the knowledge that one is never truly alone. It has been used to stimulate the circulatory system, stabilize the dispersion of oxygen within the body, to treat conditions associated with the immune system, blood disorders and all organs of the body. It will serve to remove energy blockages and mental blockages while opening pathways to the future.

A while back I sent emails and information about The Grandmother's and an upcoming event to be held here in Central NY in October 2008. I feel that this is an important gathering and I am putting out the word, again.

The following is the Grandmother's Statement of Alliance:

"WE ARE THIRTEEN INDIGENOUS GRANDMOTHERS who came together for the first time from October 11 through October 17, 2004, in Phoenicia, New York. We gathered from the four directions in the land of the people of the Iroquois Confederacy. We come here from the Amazon rainforest, the Arctic circle of North America, the great forest of the American northwest, the vast plains of North America, the highlands of central America, the Black Hills of South Dakota, the mountains of Oaxaca, the desert of the American southwest, the mountains of Tibet and from the rainforest of Central Africa.
Affirming our relations with traditional medicine peoples and communities throughout the world, we have been brought together by a common vision to form a new global alliance.
We are the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers. We have united as one. Ours is an alliance of prayer, education and healing for our Mother Earth, all Her inhabitants, all the children and for the next seven generations to come.

DOES YOUR GARDEN ROCK ?

Garden Quartz. Check it out. We have more beautiful clear quartz clusters.

They glisten in the sun and make the plants so happy and healthy.

The flowers are colorful and showy !

Some of the gardens are going crazy. Our Selenite garden is

very green and full. The huge Selenite centerpiece stones have enhanced the vibration. The sitting area in front of this garden is very inviting. Many people have enjoyed this spot before or after visiting the Gallery. Why are there so many different kinds of rocks that come in spectacular colors? A most amazing gift from Mother Nature and the Creator. From the purple hues of Amethyst to the multi-colored varieties of calcites to the rosy quartz and vibrantly colored agates and jaspers. Thank you for these purely simple gifts.

THE MORNING RITUAL

Our dogs are our alarm clock. Every morning at about the same time, Hawk, our Siberian Husky, starts his yodel. This is to let us know that it is time to get up and take him and Skip for their morning walk. This is a wonderful time for all of us. The dogs get their exercise and check things out and we get our exercise and check things out. Like this awesome dragonfly that we watched just the other day. The dragonflies we have been seeing are much different this year. Their wings are black and a golden iridescent hue. Each dragonfly has different patterns on their wings. They are truly magnificent. On our walks we stroll through the woods and down the front of our property. We have several new gardens and thanks to a true sweetheart, Betty R., who gifted us with numerous plants, we have some cool new perennials to watch bloom. And so will you when you visit. The plants are loving the garden rocks. It is a curious thing to see how the plants gravitate towards the crystals. They thrive on the energy from the stones. You should try some in your gardens. They look terrific, the plants appreciate them and what a lovely addition to the greenery.

DAVE'S STONE MEDICINE WHEEL

Dave has been working on his medicine wheel. It has been in the planning stage for a very long time and is now a work in progress. Here he is carting one of the stones ( Picture on left) and then setting the South stone. (Picture on right) It is coming along. He gets his inspiration in the early hours of the morning during dreamtime.

I will keep you posted on the progress. We received a nice stone from the Herkimer Diamond Mines from our friends, Greta and John. It is a huge matrix of limestone with the vibrational energy of the area. It has been set in the hub of the wheel. ( not shown, yet )

We hope to share some of this with you soon. Oh my wondrous being has to behold the pure unfettered dreams of nature to be foretold.

The New Blog Attempt

Greetings all !

This is my first attempt with the new Blog. I hope to add to this periodically and share new ideas, stones, and happenings of interest with you. Thought it might be a tad more welcome than some of the lengthy emails that you have received.

We are preparing for the Gilsum, NH Rock Swap that is held at the Elementary School in Gilsum, NH on June 27 and 28. This should be a fun event. Can't wait to see what is new. I'm sure we will be bringing back some interesting material to share with you.

Which reminds me.....Dave and I came across some Healer's Gold and we have it available in a couple of different sizes.
